Getting There

The trailhead for the short Rocky Point Trail is on Wards Hill Road in Killcare Heights in Bouddi National Park (see map location).

You can get there by turning into Wards Hill Road from Empire Bay Drive, or by driving to the western end of Maitland Bay Drive, depending on where you’re coming from.

A small car park is located on the western side of the road, close to the intersection with Maitland Bay Drive.

This car park serves both the Rocky Point Trail and the Daleys Point Walking Track.

Track Notes

The 900-metre long Rocky Point Trail to the lookout is a family-friendly walking track that is well-maintained and easy to follow.

Before starting the walk, it’s worth reading the information boards at the northern end of the car park to learn more about the area.

Once you’re ready to start walking, look for the gate and signpost at the southern end of the car park.

The 900 metres to get to the lookout is almost entirely on a fire trail, so it’s very easy to follow and navigate.

About halfway into the walk, you’ll see a fork in the road. Veer to the right at that point to stay on the right path.

Towards the end of the walk, you’ll arrive at a signpost for the Allen Strom Lookout. Turn right at that sign, and the lookout is right there.

It was named after Allen Axel Strom AM (1915 – 1997), a resident who made a lifelong contribution to the protection of Gosford City’s environment.

Together with his wife, Beryl Joan Strom OAM (1933 – 2002), Allen was involved in environmental education and the protection of the natural values of the Central Coast and the Bouddi peninsula.

The fenced viewing platform offers superb views over Hardys Bay, Wagstaffe, Brisbane Water, and Broken Bay, with glimpses of the ocean to the left.

Once you’ve finished exploring this lookout, retrace your steps via the same fire trail to return to the car parking area.
