A guide to the best cafes in Coogee where you will never be disappointed with the quality of the coffee being served, tried and tested by our small team of coffee enthusiasts.
Coogee is one of Sydney’s most popular beach suburbs. And while the beach at Coogee is absolutely fantastic, another reason Coogee is such an attractive weekend destination is its vibrant cafe culture.
We’ve done the work for you and have shortlisted the five best cafes to get your much-needed coffee fix in.
1. The Little Kitchen
The Little Kitchen on Arden Street has been a local favourite for many years, serving Australian cuisine and brunch in an intimate setting with indoor and outdoor seating.
Not only is their coffee consistently good, but their breakfast, brunch, and lunch menu offerings are fresh, well-sized, and reasonably priced.

2. Cafe Rafaele
Formerly known as Cafe de France, Cafe Rafaele is a popular cafe and bar on 19 Havelock Ave just south of Coogee Beach.
Cafe Rafaele offers delicious meals with a French touch, complemented by tasty coffee. Their location on a quiet street is also a bonus, while still being close to the action and the beach.

3. Gusto Espresso Bar
Conveniently located up on Coogee Bay Road and moments away from Coogee Beach, Gusto Espresso Bar offers baked goods, breakfast, creative sandwiches, salads, and, of course, perfectly brewed coffee.
It’s a small and cosy cafe with indoor as well as outdoor seating, albeit with a small amount of tables. The service is typically very friendly and casual at Gusto Espresso Bar, which can often make all the difference.

4. Bakehouse South Coogee
Located along Malabar Road between Coogee and Maroubra, Bakehouse South Coogee is a family-owned cafe and bakery serving up delicious food, desserts, and coffee.
When visiting, make sure to try one of their cakes or pastries. They not only look irresistible, but they also taste fantastic. So much so that you’ll want to come back, like so many locals do.

5. Morning Glory Cafe
If you’re in need of a quiet morning coffee while overlooking the beach, head to Morning Glory Cafe on Beach Street. Their coffee is superb, but their all-day menu is a real delight too, especially their breakfast options.
Should Morning Glory Cafe have no seating available when you go there, simply try Coogee Bite Cafe next door. Their coffee and food offerings are just as good, and we’ve been informed that the cafes get on really well!
